About Us

The NC State Film Office (first created as a Commission under the administration of Governor James B. Hunt) was established in 1980 to meet the increasing demands for support by the Hollywood film industry. With esteemed filmmakers such as Dino DeLaurentiis and Frank Capra, Jr. drawn to North Carolina, requiring in-state infrastructure and crew, the state rose to the occasion by building a professional stable of professionals and creating facilities and services unparalleled outside of California.

More than 800 films and 15 television series, including a multitude of documentaries and commercials have been brought to the screen with the assistance of the Film Office over the past 27 years.

Our knowledgeable staff and regional offices are here to assist with all your production needs, 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week — from initial scouts and pre-production to principal photography and post-production. We provide professional and timely production consultation to assist with those inevitable last-minute changes.
