HBO series to film 5 new episodes in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The HBO series "East Bound and Down" about a washed-up professional baseball player will begin filming five more episodes in Wilmington next month.
The Star-News of Wilmington reports that HBO will open offices for the show Monday at the EUE Screen Gems Studio in Wilmington. Shooting begins Sept. 29.
An HBO spokesman confirmed the plans Friday.
The show is produced by Gary Sanchez Productions, co-owned by Will Ferrell.
Danny McBride stars as Kenny Powers, the baseball player who ends up working as the physical education teacher at his former middle school.
McBride co-stars in the just-released, Ben Stiller movie "Tropic Thunder." He studied film making at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.
