Film Council to Meet in Raleigh

Aug 25, 2010

First of three meetings for the 2010-2011 year

On Thursday, the North Carolina Film Council will once again gather to discuss the state of affairs surrounding the state and the film industry.  Thursday's meeting will be held in Raleigh.

On the agenda are items including a summary of the past legislative session and a detailed look at the new 25% incentive. The Council will also discuss ways to continue to promote North Carolina to the industry and be briefed on ways to help educate the public about some hot topics currently in the business.  Additionally, producer John Cornick will make a presentation to the group about the recently Wilmington-wrapped independent feature "Bolden!".  Representatives from the six regional film commissions will also be on hand to discuss productions and efforts taking place in their areas.

The Film Council is a 25-member appointed advisory group that makes suggestions and insight to the Governor and the state film office about the industry and how to keep North Carolina competitive.  It is presently chaired by Bob Seligson of Raleigh and co-chaired by E.A. Tod Thorne of Charlotte.  The council meets at least three times a year.
