WILMINGTON -- The Wilmington Regional Film Commission, Inc recently elected its new 2012 officers at their first meeting of the year.

Carey Jones, president of The Production Source, has been tapped as the group’s new chairwoman.

Jones is no stranger to the commission.   Last year, the city of Wilmington appointed Jones to an unexpired term, and now has appointed her to serve he first, three-year term.

“We are thrilled that Carey is willing to serve as chair,” said Executive Director Johnny Griffin.  “She has been an active board member and strong advocate for the industry here since the day she accepted her appointment.”

Bill Vassar, executive vice president of EUE Screen Gems Studios, was re-elected to another three-year term as vice chairman. New Hanover County Commissioner Ted David is currently filling an unexpired term on the board.

James Smith, director of Economic Community Development for Four County EMC, is serving in an at large capacity for his second, three-year term, and Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo is serving a three-year term for his first time as a city appointee.

The Wilmington Regional Film Commission, Inc. works to promote on-location filming throughout the Wilmington region.  In 2011, the Wilmington Region--as well as the state of North Carolina--experienced their best year of production and 2012 is already set to break the new heights.
